  • JUNE 2021 | STAYING CONNECTED CHALLENGE from RACHEL HART

    Hi Everyone!

Welcome to the middle of the year (GASP!!!) -- and also to my challenge for the month of June – STAYING CONNECTED.

With all the challenges this past year has brought (and still continues to), I thought it would be really interesting to do a challenge on how everyone has stayed connected with each other during this time. This could be with your loved ones, with work, with school, with appointments, etc...

Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to do a layout/project on ‘STAYING CONNECTED’.

    ***** NOTE *****

Anyone can do this challenge, you don’t have to use just my products (since I just make stamps and don't make papers, etc.) -- so any products from TDP is completely fine -- although would love to see how you would use mine here, and anyone who uses mine as the "majority" (main focal point, etc.) of their project will be entered in my random $5 draw; see below.

Can’t wait to see what you all come up with. Have Fun!

    RACHEL HART

Due to pandemic restrictions, we spent a lot of time outside last year, as we were determined to not let the kids (or Mom!) feel "stuck at home." We tried to keep things as normal as possible, and where we couldn't, we adapted. We spent more time going to parks and nature centers, we did garage and driveway and backyard visits and parties with family, we started new traditions like Pizza Sundays, we played more games, we build puzzles, we continued learning through homeschool classes and ZOOM music lessons, we participated in or watched live classes like drawing with Mo Willems and astronomy with Wayne State Univ. and introduction to the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and Meet the Animals with the Columbus Zoo and so much more. We also took advantage of the free access to Andrew Lloyd Weber productions in the first few months of quarantine. We started a round-robin story through the mail with school friends. And to be honest, we also enjoyed having a break from having to go places nearly every day! We do tend towards being homebodies, so to not have to get in the car and go to this class or that, lessons, sports, shopping, etc. was actually kind of nice.
Now that I've written all that, I feel like I should redo my page, including that in my journaling, lol. I guess I'll have to put it on another layout.

I loved this! This challenge made me think about staying connected and what I do to do that. I am a cardmaker so I send cards to anyone and everyone for no reason. But that isn\'t as deep as my connection to food and I realised that I remain connected to my people because of food. We all love to eat together and talk about what we have eaten and what we are going to eat next LOL. So I made this page about all the food Hubby and I make for each other and some that we make together. It can be a surprise, it can be a fave, but it makes us appreciate each other and as we eat and enjoy together we are connected.

We moved last summer - which was so hard during the pandemic. And moving meant reconnecting kids with doctors, new teams (where I didn't know any parents of course and we weren't allowed to "hang out" together at practices or games so it was hard to connect. I spent a lot of time in the car, lots of driving and lots and lots of just waiting because an hour practice or therapy session meant it made sense to just wait and not drive 25 minutes home to turn around and come back lol) So I worked on learning to knit and chatting with old friends in the car while I waited.
