JOURNALING:

National Shamu the Whale Day is September 26 – the birthday of the first surviving baby Shamu born in captivity in 1985.

The name “Shamu” was trademarked by SeaWorld and has been given to different orcas (killer whales) starring in shows at their theme parks.

Female orcas can live to 90 years; male orcas to 60 years.  Killer whales imitate others and seem to deliberately teach skills to their kin.
