This is just a quick note to let you know that after a couple of years of declining participation, we've decided to suspend TDP's challenge system in 2023 in order to free up the immense amount of time that it took to create, prep, and run the events... for our designers to use instead to focus on their first love -- the creative process of designing their products.
The change also comes, secondarily, as a result of the fact that we've encountered some recent issues with our forum software, which isn't "playing nicely" with all internet browsers in the past couple of months -- meaning that it's been difficult, at times, to view our forum in certain browsers when the style sheets (the coding that makes our forum display in a "prettier" way, instead of as a jumble of words and coding) don't load into the web browsers correctly.
Because our challenge system has always been housed here, in our forum, we began to fear that the forum problem might be causing extra/unnecessary stress to people who were trying to participate in the challenges and were having trouble w/ the forum displaying incorrectly.
We want to make clear that the suspension of our challenge system isn't necessarily a permanent/forever thing... as we have always re-evaluated and updated/tweaked our activities and events on an annual basis for the entire 9 years that The Digital Press has been open. We'll always do our best to tailor our offerings to the demands of the TDP community; right now, though, challenges don't seem to be at the top of our community's priority lists (and that's AOK!).
We would love to find ways to make our staff members' experiences w/ the TDP community more interactive in 2023, however... and we're currently brainstorming a few other changes that will hopefully do just that! Please stay tuned to this space.
