  • Question about Hybrid

Okay y'all, my nieces and nephews have started having kids. Now between immediate and extended family members, I need 44 cards each year. It's time to start making them with my digi supplies. I've never done hybrid projects before. What paper do you print on? Photo paper? Card stock? Regular printer paper? Please help me get started! I've been going through old blog posts and perusing the hybrid gallery, but I'm still not sure! Help me please!!!!

I print on Espon Matte Presentation paper. It’s a little thin to be a stand alone card so I usually adhere the print to a cardstock base.

Laura ODonnell How do you print a 12x12 onto an 8x11 piece of paper? I've tried bringing it into PS and then printing from PS. It does work, but it leaves a boarder around the edge of the paper, even if I type in borderless printing.

          I don’t have a 12x12 printer. I’ve only ever printed 81/2 x 11 sorry.

Hi mocamom hahahah ninigoesdigi was right! I am your girl.

You will always get a border if you print 12x12 to 8/5x11 - no way around that.

I use any paper that is smooth white and 80lb and suitable for my inkjet, so check your compatibility issues.

80lb paper that is smooth should be good for printing, making card bases, and colouring with markers IF you need to.

This post from my blog shows you cards I have made using digital papers.

This link is to my Flickr gallery showing a card I made using digital elements - the tag, heart and ribbon are digital elements. And the papers are digi papers

Sometimes if the card is not heavy enough, I mount the items onto pieces of scrap to give them a bit more weight.

Always print ONE page first to make sure the printed colours are what you expect. Digi papers are supplied as RGB and printers print in CMYK, so the papers might be a little less bright.

This should get you started, but happily DM me if you need any more help.

I've been inspired by my work colleague Katie to make a whole series of pretty spring birthday cards. You got a sneak preview of what...
