Will definitely have to follow this thread!

To help organize my digital stash, I label my folders with TYPE - DESIGNER - KIT NAME

So it would be "KIT - Anita Designs - Count on Me" for example.

Change the default folder icon for your kit folders to the kit preview to make it easy to see what you have when scrolling through your stash. I explained how in a blog post I wrote a few years ago.

I used to do this...who has time for it anymore??!! lol

Purge! If you haven't used a kit in two or three years, be realistic, will you again?

Again, who has time for this? lol I would rather scrap and storage is relatively cheap these days.

I can't do that either. How would I post epicly vintage kits from our designers in the Digi-Hoarders thread otherwise?? LOL Seriously, though, I have issues on this matter!

USE NEXUS FONT to organize & keep fonts uninstalled (but accessible in PS)

This sounds like a good idea, but seems to be only for PC. Does anyone use a font organizer for Mac?

I use Suitcase Fusion for my Mac, but it is pricey from what I remember. Would love to find a cheaper or free font organizer

Keep new items in a separate folder until you have scrapped with them and then purge an older kit for every new one you buy.

Open kits in bridge when scrapping with PS and open all folders in a kit to access them all without having to go back and forth between folders, they are all visible, ready to drag and drop onto your page.

I do this and then close them as I am done. It is kind of like checking off items on my to do list

I started printing the previews of the kits I purchased so I could have a non computer visual, but I haven't been diligent about keeping it up. Also saving the folder preview as the folder icon, instead of having the generic open folder icon has been a help for me.

Does anyone do anything to tag either elements or kits to easily find kits that work well together or are all of the same theme? It's something I've wanted to do for a while now, just not sure what the best strategy is...

I know Lightroom is great for organizing...I just don't use it for that. LOL

I tag my preview in ACDSee. I used to tag EVERYTHING, but again...

Now I only tag the preview with the following information:
      • site (and I switch if a designer moves) (that's especially useful for challenges!)
      • CT or not,
      • S4H or not (that way if I ever need to use it for S4H jobs but got it through a CT I know I need to buy it),
      • type of product (kit, alpha, journaling cards, elements, template, brushes, styles, etc.),
      • style (minimalistic, AJ, pocket scrapping, etc.)
      • and the theme (various holidays, baby/child, tough stuff, motivation/weight loss/change/growth/evolving (I have quite a few kits on that topic), feminine/masculine, love, family, etc.).
Since I scrap by kit it works for me. If I were to use more templates, I'd definitely consider adding the number of images of each template, that would help fine tune it! Same thing if I were a mix-and-match scrapper, I'd probably tag the colors of the kit to easily find all my white and yellow at once.

What I like in ACDSee is that you can pick several tags at once: I could easily find all the wedding-themed kits that are S4H, for example, if I had a wedding announcement or menu to make for a customer, or all baby boy themed kits from TDP's designers for a challenge.
