As we near the end of January, I am reflecting on how I am doing with my goals I set 24 days ago. It got me wondering - how many of you set goals? I know that for a lot of people setting goals at the beginning of a new year is something they have decided not to do any more. I was starting to think that just a few years ago as well since I didn't seem to make much progress. Then I started narrowing my focus to target just one goal each quarter of the year. I have found this to be much more effective. For this quarter Jan, Feb, March - I am working on weight loss. I have been focusing daily on little steps to take me to my goal. So far I have lost 7 pounds. With all that said... if you are a goal setter, how are you doing with your goals?

I'm a massive goal setter. I agree that it can be a difficult thing to keep up with year on year but luckily I am obsessed with making to do lists. I have a list for everything. I always make a plan/list before I start anything and get tingles when I cross something off it. For me goal setting in January gets me super excited and hopeful for the rest of the year. I really like your strategy for setting and completing your goals. Good luck with everything. I hope you hit your target.

I avoid black-and-white kinds of goals, where there is a clear quantity or due date involved. I've found better success with having "ideals" that I'm constantly working towards. Some days I nail them and other days I don't and I work hard at not beating myself up about it.
tiffany scraps : how did your weight loss goal go and are you working on a new quarterly goal right now?

Well I have to say that isolation wasn't the best for this goal. I shot back up to my January 1 weight but then I decided to stop the comfort and stress eating and I am now back to that 7 pound loss and will continue on with this goal. I like your idea of ideals over goals. My weight loss has been about making small healthy changes to my activity and eating. I ask myself, "Is this something I can do lifelong?" If it is not... I'm not doing it.I don't want to spend the rest of my life dieting rather I want to set myself up with healthy habits that I can use the rest of my life.
As for quarter 2 (April, May, June) I have been working on setting up home systems to be more organized in my home management. It is going pretty well. I am thinking about picking something small for the 3rd quarter (July,Aug, Sept) because I still want to spend some time on my weight loss goals and home management in addition to whatever else I take on. I might decide to focus on family relationships since it is summer and we have time together. That will still allow for time to work on my other goals too.
