  • Recipe for Gingersnaps

    Another requested recipe share

    Gingersnaps
    3/4 cup shortening
    3/4 cup margarine or butter
    2 cups granulated sugar
    2 eggs
    1/4 cup molasses
    4 cups flour
    2 tsp cinnamon
    2 tsp cloves
    2 tsp ginger
    2 tsp baking soda
    1 1/2 tsp salt
    Sift dry ingredients together and set aside. Cream shortening, margarine (or butter) and sugar. Add eggs and molasses then beat well. Stir in dry ingredients. Roll into walnut size balls and then roll in granulated sugar to coat. Bake on greased cookie sheet at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes. You may want to check them at 8 or 9 minutes if you like your cookies soft and chewy. Baking time will vary from oven to oven.

    I have a recipe that looks very similar to this, but it has a different name, and mmmmm they are goood!

            Oh yum! My favorite! We make them at our house rolled in what my kids used to call "giant sugar" (really just coarse sugar) before baking, for that extra crunch on top of the "snap"!
