  • DSD GAME | SO OVER IT

Hey, hey creatives! Karla here with a forum game for DSD weekend! This one is super simple and much-needed. I have a feeling this is going to be low-key therapeutic, welcome to SO OVER IT! In this game we can just let out our frustrations a bit and just state the one thing, or one of many, you are just SO over and done with since the pandemic. Simple yeah? Here are the details of this game:
    • List one thing (and if you’re feeling saucy then two things ^_~) you’re SO OVER.
    • Come back to this thread for some like-minded therapy and convo from time-to-time throughout DSD (totally optional lol)
    • Enjoy your DSD!
Alright, so let me go first...

Since the pandemic hit, my already crazy life got even crazier as we all can attest to. Some things have changed for the greater good and others? Nah. I, for one, am so freakin’ over kids YouTube not being 100% kid friendly.

Now, I know you can't see my face or hear my voice but when I think about this "gripe" It brings me to tears. So check it...my son, Rain, likes "Mommy's" phone. He watches YouTube on my account sometimes and even though I don't have YouTube "Kids", I was told this still applies. Recently, I would say over the last couple months, we have been noticing programs that are SO far from kids that It's down right illegal...at least they should be.

My son LOVES Elmo but there is a "horror" version of Elmo's World and JUST Monday we found out there was another. It's SO frightening that I'm bothered by it let alone my son (which at 2 he seems to like it which is even worse!) Then there is Bob the Train.I won't go into every detail about this one as there are a lot. However, making fun of someone being "fat", telling kids (alphabets) to get on the bus when they are going elsewhere and more is TOTALLY not cool. Like seriously? Promoting kidnapping? Really? Not even to mention the truly bratty children shows with willing parents that go unchecked. Oh my goodness I can keep going and it's not like you can stop it, fully. 'And here I thought all I would ever have to worry about is Caillou.... just please, please...share your SO over-ness. I need to gab and feel like I'm not alone...

NOTE: If you don't have anything you're "Over" then you can totally share something that has been a GOOD thing since the pandemic! Of course! A sista could use that too ^_^

Okay, this is definitely a first world problem... I am SO OVER trying to get a refund for my cancelled cruise!!! Or should I say "cruises" as I made the mistake of rebooking after the first one was cancelled. The hoops that I have had to jump through on this have been ridiculous. I know the industry has been hit hard during Covid but I just want my money back!!!

We had a trip planned to Norway that got cancelled, and an excursion we had scheduled refused to refund our money because we’d booked it before the March lockdown (like months before). The kicker was that if we’d booked it after the first lockdown, they would have refunded 100% of our money. I so don’t understand that logic.

I totally get it. We had a trip to Greece planned in April 2020 and just this week got a flight refund. Still out plenty for other “stuff” that wouldn’t get refunded. It was a total pain!

Oh no I hope things turn out for your and your family. I know it's super, super hard. I'm still adjusting to the RV life and me being the main providers very difficult. I know this is what I'm meant to do but the struggle is real. Stay up my love!

I am so over the idiots not wearing their masks properly. My area is back to mandatory masks due to the Covid variants. Regardless of the signs which show how to properly wear a mask and people being told that the virus is airborne, they still insist on exposing their nose.

The sad part is that Flu season is starting and I believe it is only going to get worse until next year. I believe that we will all have to get booster shots next year no matter what vaccine we got (Johnson & Johnson has already made a booster shot and is waiting for the FDA to approve it).

I second and third and fourth this... so much! Look, people, I get it -- this entire pandemic has been hard on everyone and we're all doing things we'd 'prefer' not to do... but... wearing a mask is literally the least you could do to help spare the life of someone else, even if you think you're protected and safe (and/or you don't care). You never know when you might cross paths with someone who goes home to a child battling cancer -- an elderly parent who is immunocompromised and can't get vaccinated -- a young child who isn't eligible yet but has asthma and is high-risk -- YOU JUST DON'T KNOW. Put on a mask, just in case, so you don't unwittingly kill one of these people or their loved ones. It's just... it's just so simple. Why do people have to be so hateful about it?! I will never understand.

I am so over Fed Ex delivering my packages to the wrong address! I do 90% of my shopping online and when Fed Ex is the carrier, my package is almost always delivered to the wrong house. I have called Fed Ex to let them know this keeps happening, but they won't give me a phone number to contact my local Fed Ex so that they can communicate that to drivers for my area. Fex Ex customer service tells me all I can do is call on EVERY package that is going to be delivered and they will make a note of it for that one delivery. Seriously?!? Who has time for that?!?!? I live in the country and, up to this point, my neighbors will bring my packages that have been delivered to them, but I had a package that Fed Ex says was delivered two days ago (but it wasn't delivered to my house) and nobody has brought it to me. Looks like I am going to have to call Fed Ex AGAIN! Ugh!! I am so over it!!

Our neighborhood has the same problems. We all have very similar addresses- but literally daily something is delivered to the wrong address. It is incredibly frustrating!

Try having to return a product to Amazon through UPS. They are suppose to knock on your door to get the package, put the label on it and leave you the return slip. They keep leaving mine in my front patio and the slip gets blown around - or they leave it under the door mat.

Then I have to call to get to picked up (and hope they don't change me for the pickup) or take it down to the UPS store - which means either paying for UBER or waiting from my friend to be able to take me. Too many packages get back to Amazon late and I have to fight to get my refund because of it.

For me a good thing that came out of the pandemic was being able to work at home... I loved it! Today we went back to the office fulltime (urgh!) I really am much more productive at home.

Nice and comfy...in your own space...don't even have to wear clothes. Yeah...that's always a better deal. I am very fortunate to work from home but it's very stressful too. As I was saying above, everything depends on me and my design. It's slow coming but I'm keeping the faith!

I am so over our stupid plumbing problem. We had our pressure regulator repaired and ever since we have this "water knock" which is basically the pipe banging on the wall & it's so loud & annoying- but literally EVERY time the plumber comes back out- today was visit #4- we can't recreate it. GGrrrrr...

We had a similar sort of knock a while back... after using google I figured it was a seal or something in our toilet (made a huge racket when we flushed)... hope you can get it sorted soon

A friend of mine battles to hear people speak with the masks... she is going slightly deaf and so is lip reading and now can't. Super frustrating.

I am soooooo over virtual learning. My kids have been virtual since March 2020. It is our choice to do virtual again this year as the numbers are to high and I will not risk my family for in-person school.

I’m so over COVID. I just lost my father to it this past summer. The funeral was absolutely packed. I heard a snide remark based on someone actually wearing a mask. Just wish people treated others with more respect. Stay healthy & strong everyone!

I'm so sorry for your loss... and even sorrier that in your time of grief and mourning you had to deal with someone else verbalizing their own selfishness instead of extending grace. Hugs to you.

Oh sweets yes, it's so hard. I miss my family. I miss my kids but that's another story lol! Yeah, I oftentimes think of what things will be like years from now. I can't see the light as I have lost trust. I hope, for all our sakes, that the world will be like it was. At least close? Maybe? Please?....

I'm so over being expected to get students back on track. I.E. Caught up from the 2 years of little to no in person schooling while also being expected to get thru all the curriculum for this year.

Whoa! Tell it! I don't watch or read the news much these days. Got burnt out during the heat of the pandemic and now just read the headlines that pop up on my Google search page. I can imagine the children and their education, in the now, doesn't get the play it deserved. The kids...a very touchy important subject. I would like to know more about peoples experience dealing with the pandemic with school aged kids. Can I ask...where is the pressure coming from exactly? Are they work overloading. Difficult testing? Not enough support/teacher/instructor guidance? Girl let me know as I think about Rain and his schooling more and more.
